Sessie 2: Manifesto 2011
CHAOS Manifesto
In this presentation, we will look at three major items: decision making, project optimization, and executive management support. In decision-making we will look at the make-up of project decisions, how decisions get made and how to improve both accuracy and speed. In project optimization we will consider methods to improve optimization and increase project velocity. We will have a special focus in this presentation on the executive sponsor or project owner. This will cover the kinds of skills and impact these skills have on a project success and failure. We will explore the newly developed size-complexity matrix and the matrix effects executive sponsors or project owner participation.
Round table activity: Manifesto 2011
This year's results show a marked increase in project success rates. In this presentation we will look at the numbers and the reasons behind this increase. We will cover the Ten CHAOS Factors of success and their laws. We look at how organizations can use these laws in their project management ecosystem. We will look at case studies for each of the factors and consider why the project was either a success or failure. We will look at and consider the agile process, project optimization and emotional maturity. We will explore the newly developed size-complexity matrix and how organizations can use the matrix to assess their projects and improve success rates.
Question 1: Using the Size-Complexity Matrix how would you rate this project: $4M project, Team of 25, Never done before, Unclear goals, Unhappy stakeholders & Unhappy peers.
4 = Very difficult
3 = Difficult
2 = Somewhat difficult
1 = Not difficult
Question 2: How would you rate the difficulty of managing user expectations?
Rating:
4 = Very difficult
3 = Difficult
2 = Somewhat difficult
1 = Not difficult
Question 3: How much of reliance do you place of tools for project success?
4 = Very dependent
3 = Dependent
2 = Somewhat dependent
1 = Not dependent

Complexity score per table
1 Project difficulty
Onderwijs B size/complexity = 10.000 (of op de schaal zoals weergegeven 1000)
Onderwijs K Impossible to rate this at all. We don't want to start this.So: 1001
Onderwijs L complexiteit is groot, size levert 7 punten, complex 11 verder nog wel wat verzwarende factoren al met al komen we wel op een score van 925
2 Difficulty of managing user expectations
4.0 Don't even start it, so there are no user expectations
4.0 We don't start such a project
3 Reliance of tools for project success
1.0 Law 10!!!!! 'A fool with a tool remains a fool'
1.0 geen project om met plezier op te starten, dus skippen die klus
